NALL Profiles: Brian Caufield

Today we start a series of profiles where I feature future NALL players and help you, the casual fan, know a little more about some of the players that could be suiting up for your new team. Today we feature the third overall pick in the NALL rookie draft, forward Brian Caufield out of the University of Albany. After the jump, I'll talk more about the 6'4'' 225 lbs. forward who looks to make an impression in Kentucky.
Coming into college, Caufield was deemed one of the top 100 incoming freshman by Inside Lacrosse. Caufield experienced much success at Albany in the four years he played. He was named to the all-conference rookie team his freshman year after leading Albany in points. Against Hartford that year he tied the school record for most goals in a game with 7. Sophomore year he was second in scoring among sophomores, only to Jacksonville Bullies/Buffalo Bandits draft pick Billy Bitter. Last year he finished out his time at Albany with a very successful Senior year, scoring 10 goals and 22 assists. He was second on the team in scoring, even though he missed five games of the season.
Caufield is a big kid, and a great mold for an indoor lacrosse player. This summer he was drafted in the MLL draft in the sixth round, making him only the 7th player to be drafted into the MLL from Albany. However Caufield only played one game this season, notching one goal. He looks to make a much bigger impact in the NALL this season, where he will get much more playing time than he would in the NLL.
Caufield is the mold for the type of player the NALL is looking for. He's big, strong, and full of potential. He has minimal box lacrosse experience, like most NALL hopefuls. That's where the NALL comes in. He'll be trained in the ways of box lacrosse by some of the best coaches out there, and get playing time that he wouldn't as a college player transitioning to the NLL. Caufield shows why the NALL is so great, it gives Americans a chance to someday be great indoor players. Who knows, Caufield may develop into the next great American box laxer.
As always thanks for reading today's NALL Profile. Up next is Jacksonville first round pick Bobby Stockton. Remember to follow me on Twitter @GoodsOnSabres for all the latest NALL news.
